Quick Summary

  • Extremely long battery life (up to ~80 hours in real use)

  • Lightweight and very comfortable at only ~235 g

  • Clear, detailed sound with strong treble presence

  • Bass is satisfying but can distort at very high volumes

  • Above average microphone

Bottom line:
The Baseus Bass BH1 is easily one of the best budget bass headphones I’ve used. It’s comfortable, it has great bass and long battery life. Its main weakness is distortion at high volumes.

Connectivity, Battery Life, and Controls

The BH1 uses Bluetooth 6.0 with multi-point connectivity. This charges with USB-C.

The battery life is excellent. Baseus claims up to 80 hours, and in real use that number seems accurate. Be aware that there’s no auto shut-off enabled by default, so they can stay connected to your phone or computer indefinitely which drains the power.

As for the controls:

ANC Button

  • Press to cycle between ANC on, transparency, and ANC off

Circle button

  • Press once to play or pause tracks or answer/reject calls.

  • Press three times to activate voice assistant

+ and - buttons

  • Volume + (hold ~2s): Skip to next track

  • Volume – (hold ~2s): Skip to previous track

Build Quality and Comfort

These get an A in comfort.

They weigh only about 235 grams, which makes them easy to wear for long sessions. The build is mostly plastic, with a small metal section visible when adjusting the headband. They swivel, fold easily, and are quite portable.

The ear pads are pleather with a small cloth section at the top. There isn’t a ton of padding, but they mold to your ears well and never felt uncomfortable during my use.

Headphone Audio Quality

(Measured with my miniDSP EARS — not industry standard)

Out of the box, the sound is actually very clear and detailed. Despite the name, the sub-bass and bass are some of the weakest parts of the tuning with ANC off, while the treble is quite prominent. This can lead to noticeable sibilance, especially with female vocals.

Once you turn ANC on, everything changes.

The measurements show — and you can clearly hear — a massive boost to sub-bass and bass with ANC enabled. Movies rumble and basslines hit with some legitimate weight and thump. It doesn’t push a lot of air like a large dynamic driver, but the vibration and physicality are very satisfying.

There is a downside: you can’t push these too loud. At max volume, the bass starts to distort, and you can feel the drivers struggling.

Overall, the tuning approach is excellent. The treble is slightly over the top, but it balances the bass well so things don’t sound muffled. The limitation here isn’t the tuning — it’s the driver’s ability to keep up.

Spatial Audio and ANC

Spatial audio is available and feels more like a midrange boost than true surround sound, but it’s still fun to experiment with.

Active noise cancellation is very effective indoors and still helpful outdoors without being distracting. If you want to stay aware of your surroundings, transparency mode works well and plays back outside audio.

Microphone Quality

The microphone is well above average which is common for Baseus devices.

It’s one of the best mics I’ve used on budget headphones. The tonality is warm and clear, though slightly muffled. For calls, it performs well.

Verdict

I recommend the Baseus Bass BH1 for bass enjoyers on a tight budget.

They offer excellent battery life, great comfort, strong ANC-boosted bass, and one of the best microphones in this price range. The bass is fun and satisfying, as long as you don’t crank the volume all the way up. These easily earn Bass Arena approval.
