Open-Ear Design and Comfort
The Baseus BC1 are open-ear earbuds, meaning they don’t sit inside your ear canal. Instead, they rest in the folds of your ear, with a ring-style design that wraps around the back to keep them in place.
I expected these to get uncomfortable over time, but they didn’t. Even while working out, they stayed secure and never slipped off. Once you get the positioning right, they’re easy to forget you’re wearing them.
Sound Quality

For an open-ear device, the sound is honestly impressive.
These deliver shockingly strong bass considering the audio isn’t sealed into your ear. The sound fires towards your ear from a short distance, yet it still retains warmth and impact. You can clearly hear your surroundings while listening, which is the whole point of this design.
That said, there is a clear limitation. Sub-bass — the really deep, thumping, booming low end — just isn’t there. The above graph isn’t a measurement issue. Open-ear designs simply can’t translate that kind of contact-based sub-bass into your ear canal.
You’ll hear basslines and low-end presence, but you won’t feel deep rumbles. This was especially noticeable when watching movies with heavy low-frequency effects. The bass is audible, but not physical.
Still, overall detail is good, and the tuning is warm and rich. For what these are, the sound quality is genuinely impressive.
Controls
The controls are handled with physical buttons.
Playback, pausing, and track skipping are easy to do, with clear tactile feedback. Both the left and right earbuds handle different functions, so there’s a small learning curve at first, but once you get used to it, the controls work well and feel reliable.
IP55 Rating and Battery Life
The BC1 is IP55 rated, so sweat and light splashes aren’t an issue. That’s important if you plan to use these while working out or outdoors.
Battery life comes in at about 7.5 hours per charge, with a total of around 38 hours when using the charging case. Not bad.
Microphone Quality
The microphone prioritizes background noise cancellation over vocal warmth.
Your voice comes through loud and clear, even in noisy environments, but it does sound a bit robotic. That tradeoff makes sense here — clarity matters more than richness when you’re on the go — and overall, the mic does exactly what it should.
Verdict
The Baseus Bass BC1 is one of the most earbuds I’ve used.
It’s comfortable, stays secure during workouts, lets you stay aware of your surroundings, and still manages to deliver real bass — just not deep sub-bass. If you’re specifically looking for an open-ear design and don’t want to give up low-end entirely, these are an easy recommendation and earn Bass Arena approval.
