Quick Summary
The JLab Go Pop+ cost me $20, but they sound, feel, and pack features that should make them cost three times more. They have good bass, decent battery life, and a strong seal for comfort.
You might see it listed as different names like the Go Air Pop+. There's also a Tones version with different colors.
Connectivity
Bluetooth: 5.3 (SBC + AAC)
Multipoint: No
ANC: No
The model I have does NOT have ANC, but a version with that has been released as well.
Battery Life and Case
The battery lasts up to 9 hours for the earbuds alone, and the case adds 26 for a total of 35 hours.
The case uses an integrated USB-C cable, meaning it’s literally attached to the case. I really dislike this design because you have to use up a free charging brick instead of your own cable, and the integrated one is extremely short.
Controls
The controls are capacitive touch, and you can customize them with the JLab app.
It’s easy to accidentally touch the controls if you’re readjusting the earbuds. If you assign volume up or down to a hold, it won’t ramp continuously while you’re holding it.
Earbud Audio Quality
Measurements were taken with my miniDSP EARS (not industry standard)
I’ve never heard earbuds sound this good for this cheap. And there’s no white noise.
The bass has real power. Spend some time to try on the different ear tips, because the better the seal, the better bass you can get. The sub-bass doesn’t get quite as low as I’d like, but I still enjoy these a lot.
You can boost them in the app without bottoming out, but you might actually want to bring them down a tad for voice-focused content like YouTube videos or podcasts so they’re not too boomy. But for music and movies, crank it up as much as you want.
Mids clarity is where these do fall a tad short, and the treble can be pretty strong. Not just strong — it’s subject to distortion at high volumes, so tracks with bright highs like hi-hats won’t sound the cleanest.
Microphone Audio Quality
The mic is decent considering this is a budget device.
It cuts out some wind noise, but my voice sounds overly processed - not in a good way.
JLab App
The JLab app is superb.
It has controls customization, stay aware mode, and equalization. It’s a clean, snappy interface that’s not bloated with useless AI features shoved in — at least not yet…
Comfort and Build
These are all plastic, but they feel solid.
They’re very round, unlike a lot of earbuds that are thin and straight. The main advantage is it gives you an easy area to grip and adjust the fit without accidentally pressing the touch control area. Most earbuds fail at this hard.
That said, the controls are below average when it comes to sensitivity, so usually they’re not picked up while I’m wearing gloves.
Water resistance is IPX4. This will be okay for sweat and splashes, but nothing more. The IP rating applies to earbuds, not the case.
Fit is decent. Medium is a bit too small for me, and large gives an absolutely amazing seal which improves the bass performance — but it seals so hard it’s like suction, and it kind of hurts to pull out, so I’ll probably go slightly smaller.
These don’t slide around too much, but I do have to adjust them about every 30 minutes or so. Overall, I give these an A in build (considering the price) and B in comfort.
Verdict
If you’re on a tight budget, get the JLab Go Pop+. Nothing beats it at this price.
